Pregnancy-36 weeks

After my very moody post the other day I thought I'd write about how I am now and how my midwife appointment went yesterday.

As the post suggests I am now 36 weeks, which means eek, and relief that there isn't much longer to go now! I have been feeling much better the last few days the rib pain is still there, and some days it can be excruciating but I am just going to have to put up with it, as it must just be where baby is lying and how my body carries babies as I did have it with Alex. I haven't had many breathless moments either which is great, I still can't travel very far in the car at the moment though as I just feel too uncomfortable and always feel short of breath when travelling.

Anyway aside from my blood test being booked in at a different branch and no one notifying me of it (not that I would have been able to get there seeing as I don't drive and also my midwife appointment was straight after at my doctors surgery) my midwife appointment went really well.

After not measuring as big as I should have been 2 weeks ago I was apprehensive as to whether bump had grown enough for me to escape a scan at the hospital, shockingly however, bump has grown '5 weeks' and I am now measuring as I should be on the chart-this might be due to baby having moved head down rather than feet down (always a good sign)! My bump is now very much all out front and a few people have commented on this. I hate not being bale to put socks and shoes on without looking a fool now though!

Luckily my midwife managed to take my bloods to I don't have to go back to rearrange, and as long as my iron levels come back ok (which fingers crossed they should as I have been on iron tablets for some time now) I will hopefully be able to use the birthing centre when the time comes.

We briefly went through my very brief birth plan, I found when I was in labour with Alex I just had to go with how I felt on the day, ideally I'd like a labour like Alex's as there weren't really any problems. Part of me would like to do it without the help of pethidine this time around, I'm not sure why but for some reason I feel like that was me giving in a little last time as I had it because I was nervous of how painful it would become and I just felt the pain I was feeling was too weird,  it did make me rather tired last time (which I loved at the time having not had sleep the whole night before having) but it meant I dosed on and off before having Alex and I don't remember too many details! I also wrote how I am tempted by a water birth, I'm just not 100% if it is me or not, but I didn't even mention it last time around so who knows!

It was nice to have a day with no plans today as I have had a couple of busy days getting ready for and having Alex's birthday yesterday (will write about this in another post), yesterday was the first day I have noticed my legs a little swollen after being on my feet most the afternoon and evening...I had a sexy concave deep line where my socks had been and rather puffy feet so it was nice to put my feet up today! It was such a shame that there was left over birthday cake though.*

*Not at all, many cupcakes, and birthday cake have been eaten by me in the last day...oops!

  1. You sound a bit brighter. I felt the same way at about 36 weeks. The final furlong is in sight! Good luck with the next few weeks. Hope it all goes well. x
