This month I FINALLY got around to buying some chalkboard paint, I have been wanting to get some for ages, Pinterest just made me want to buy it some more as I keep seeing cool ideas.
As much as I' like a chalkboard painted wall in my house I don't think my partner would be too happy with me actually doing it. And I didn't get around to finding a nice frame to paint either...however I did remember I had a cheap Ikea Lack table in the garage that we had bought for about £2 in one of their sales.
So I turned this coffee table into a chalkboard table for Alex.
1. You need a table, chalkboard paint & a brush.
2. Paint 2 coats.
3. Use a chalk on it's side & cover the surface.
4. Have some fun!
I know pass me the sick bucket, but it made my partner smile after a day of working 2 jobs! |
And Alex loved it... |
Although next time I think I may take it outside to save all the chalk dust all over the carpet! |
Cool idea, I was thinking of doing something similar with the kids drawing table! Gotta get on and do it now!
ReplyDeleteIt's great I think I am going to be finding all sorts of things to use the paint on now, I used barely any of it! If you need to buy the paint the tin I got was only 3.50 in Wilkinsons, bargain!
DeleteLove the chalk board coffee table. Such a great idea! Thanks for linking up. x
ReplyDeleteThanks, and thanks for hosting this month.
DeleteBrilliant idea to use a Lack table, who doesn't have a lack table anyway?! Your boy looks like he is loving it. Someone needs to make dust free chalks - somehow! Thanks for joining in with #pinaddicts again x
ReplyDeleteHaha, yeah I am sure most households have one! He's been playing with it all day, if I'd have known how quiet it would keep him I would have done it months ago!
DeleteI have one of those tables and I have chalkboard paint! Great idea! I too like the idea of a chalkboard wall but little one has only just stopped crayoning the walls as it is without me confusing the issue....
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have your next project ready then! Yeah I could see how that could get a bit confusing, and potentially a big problem around the house!
Deleteaaah what a great idea!!! I bet Alex loved it. (And James too :))
ReplyDeleteKerry x
Alex hasn't stopped playing with it! I still haven't moved it outside though so the carpet has seen better days...opps! Haha yeah after a 16 hour day a work it put a smile on James' face! x
DeleteWe did this to our old Ikea coffee table too!
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy to do isn't it!
DeleteWhat a great idea! This would be good for drawing roads/train tracks on for toy cars and trains. We have one of these tables too, perhaps it's time for a makeover!
ReplyDeleteYes it is great for that too! Would definitely recommend if it's something you think the kids will enjoy :)
